FERC attempting to ease burden of natural gas and oil industry
filings
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is taking steps to ease the
regulatory burdens on the natural gas and oil pipeline industries
including that of unnecessary filings.
Last week, FERC proposed three regulatory reform actions and issued a
staff report identifying next steps. The three proposals included:
- Eliminating 145 annual filings made by Natural Gas Act pipelines
as a result of a change in the annual charge assessment unit
surcharge.
- Streamlining the processing of rate and other filings by
intrastate pipelines performing interstate service under section 311
of the Natural Gas Policy Act and Hinshaw pipelines.
- Eliminating oil pipelines unnecessary filings, updating
requirements for service and updating requirements for posting
tariff information.
