Message From The Editor of Off-Grid News

Do you ever get weary from it all? I would love to go back to the days where all I had to worry about was going to work, coming home to the family, and spending evenings and weekends simply piddling in the yard, reading a good book, or watching a movie with a bowl of popcorn propped between the four of us. We were happy. My husband and I made enough money to pay the bills, there were groceries in the cupboard, and we were surrounded with like-minded friends and neighbors. We went to church on Sunday, enjoyed July 4th festivities as we waved our American flags, said an opening prayer at the high school football game, and enjoyed the Christmas programs put on by the children in their public schools.

A lot has changed in 30 years. Today I despair of ever seeing that face of our country again. In my husband's business as a home inspector, he went for years without inspecting a foreclosure. Today, over half his business is inspecting foreclosures that are on the market. Good, hardworking people are losing jobs and their homes, and over 14% of Americans are unemployed.

And then there are government regulations and insane policies that just boggle the mind. TSA is conducting "freeze" drills in airports, where even after you're through airport security, they'll randomly initiate an order for everyone to "freeze" in place and not move. Are they trying to condition us to subservience, to stand around like mindless drones while they swagger around making sure everyone is "obeying?" Kids are complaining about the meager fare of school lunches because the First Lady has decided we're too fat and she's going to do something about it. Will the government soon start tucking us into bed too?

And then there are the people I just saw who insist we have to reelect this president because he gives away free phones. I feel like Alice, looking up through the rabbit hole. This administration can't be bothered to conduct the affairs of State and would rather be golfing or sitting on a couch with the ladies of The View, but we must reelect him because he gives away free phones.

And then there is the Senate, which can't be bothered to do the job the electorate has sent them there to do by passing a simple budget for fiscal restraint. Congress is deadlocked with idealism, cronyism, and every kind of "ism" imaginable, and while they fiddle, the dreams and aspirations of the American people burn.

Today I would just like to encourage all our readers to quit procrastinating, to quit thinking there is time to take care of learning independence, to understand that things are spiraling downward faster than we can imagine, and time is short. Learn everything you can. Take advantage of publications like Off the Grid News to prepare yourself for a future that is looming closer than ever before. I try not to be pessimistic, but some days it's just harder than others.

Today is one of those days. And so I would also ask all of you who are people of faith to join me in prayer for our country between now and the November elections, and beyond. For too long we have treated this ship of state as if she had automatic steering and we could simply enjoy the voyage without worrying about charting a course. We have been horribly mistaken. We must find our way again.

God bless each and every one of you, and once again, thank you for being a subscriber to Off the Grid News. We value each and every one of our readers. If you haven't already, friend us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter!
