FBI searches landfill for Boston Marathon bombing evidence

The FBI searched a New Bedford, Mass., landfill for evidence connected to the Boston Marathon bombings, according to CBS Boston.

The Crapo Hill landfill is located near suspected bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth dorm room, where he was seen after the bombings occurred, CBS Boston and the Boston Globe reported.

Authorities are specifically looking for any sales receipts, packaging from ammunition purchases or parts of homemade bombs that may have been used in test explosions, according to local news.

An FBI spokesperson refused to confirm the search to the Boston Globe, saying the agency is "conducting searches in many locations as part of a far reaching investigation."

The Crapo Hill landfill is owned by the Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District and is currently 39 acres in size. The landfill accepts approximately 100,000 tons of waste annually.
