Happy Monday! I know most people tend to look at Mondays with little enthusiasm, but after a restful couple of days, I feel like I am ready to take on this new week. This weekend provided me with some much-needed time to unwind and spend time with a good friend.

I know my husband was a little worried when I told him that Elesha and I had planned a day out in town. He wasn't afraid that I'd go spend too much money--he was afraid of the crazy projects I'd bring home!

I suppose he had a right to be concerned. Elesha and I didn't come home with new hairstyles or bags full of new clothes; instead, the back of the truck was filled with dozens of new veggie and herb seedlings we picked up from the local farmers' market and gardening center. And that was in addition to the fresh produce and goat cheese we'd also gotten. Let's just say that after he got done helping me plant all my new arrivals, my husband had worked up quite the appetite for that fresh, organic food!

It really was a great Saturday afternoon--not so much because I was out shopping, but because I got to spend time with a like-minded friend, one who appreciates things like self-sufficiency, healthy living, and enjoying the beautiful creation God has blessed us all with.

As you journey to a more self-sufficient and sustainable lifestyle, don't neglect the opportunity to forge friendships with like-minded individuals. The ability to connect with others who share your interests and values is a true gift. Our society tends to view people with our kind of views as outsiders, but sharing connections with others like yourself helps you realize you really aren't as alone as you might think.
