Conserving water - small changes can make big saving

The way the modern world is growing, there is enormous importance of water conservation, to ensure water availability for our future generation and to conserve energy. There are countless ways to conserve water during a typical day.

Indoor conservation tips:

  • - Run dishwasher only when full. Keep accumulating used utensils and dishes, and put into dishwasher, only when you think the dishwasher will be fully occupied.
     
    - Don't leave water running while rinsing dishes. Make the dishes wet, apply dishwashing liquids, and open the tap, only after it is done. This will save considerable amount of water.
     
    - Turn off water when brushing teeth or shaving. We have to get rid of this common bad habit. Make the brush wet, close tap, and open only when brushing is complete.
     
    - Shorten showers.
     
    - Don't use the toilet as a waste basket.
     
    - Wash only full loads of clothes.
     
    - Fix leaky toilets. Inform mechanic immediately, to get it fixed.

Outdoor conservation tips:

  • - Water the outside plants in between 7pm and 8am to reduce evaporation.

    - Don't over water the plants. It is unnecessary to water plant after a rainy day.
     
    - Adjust sprinklers to prevent overspray and runoff.
     
    - Repair leaks and broken sprinkler heads.
     
    - Add mulch around trees and plants to reduce evaporation.
     
    - Use native species plants in your garden.
     
    - Adjust sprinkler system settings each season.
