No charges have been filed against the 35-year-old homeowner. When the investigation and review of evidence is complete, the facts and reports will be forwarded to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for review and determination and disposition.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the home in the 16200 block of Suzanne around 11:30 p.m. after the shooting occurred.

Deputies found a 40-year-old white male shot in the chest. An ambulance transported the man to a local Conroe hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Major crimes detectives and crime scene investigators learned that a disturbance involving the victim occurred at a nearby residence. He then drove his vehicle through the yard of another home making threats to the family. The man parked his vehicle in the street and retrieved an ax to confront the homeowner.

The homeowner armed himself with a gun and shot the victim, who was advancing into the yard.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
