Homeowner shoots burglary suspect in groin

MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - A homeowner shot aburglary suspect in the groin after catching two men trying to steal scrapmetal from his property, according to authorities.

Deputies said the incident happened Dec. 20 at a home in Kennamer Cove in Marshall County.

The homeowner toldauthorities that when he asked the two men to leave, one of them came towardhim and threatened to kill him. That's when the victim told deputies he shotthe suspect once in the groin with his rifle. Both suspects managed to flee thescene.

Deputies were able tolocate and arrest 25-year-old Paul Curtis Reed and transported him to theMarshall County Jail. The injured suspect, 23-year-old Aaron Michael Lawson,was located at Huntsville Hospital getting treatment for his wound. Lawson wasarrested after having surgery.

Both Reed and Lawsonwere charged with first-degree theft and criminal trespassing.
