Nuclear Engineer joins Cyclone to pursue LENR applications

Award-winning, external heat engine company from Florida has added LENR heavyweight, Professor Yeong E. Kim from Purdue University to their technical consulting and advisory team to help them evaluate the viability of LENR technology as an application for their heat-to-electricity engine.

As these various LENR companies develop heat-producing technology, one key question is how to efficiently turn that heat into electricity, which is a primary end-user product needed in the marketplace.

Now there is a twist on this theme. A company that is able to turn heat into electricity efficiently has brought a professional on board specifically with the purpose of finding LENR technologies to pair with their technology.

The Cyclone Engine by Cyclone Power Technologies, Inc., is designed around the principles of an external combustion engine, to efficiently use any liquid or gaseous fuel or other heat source, including solar -- and LENR -- to create more power and significantly less emissions than current gasoline or diesel powered internal combustion engines. We created a feature page about them at PESWiki in March 2007.

Recently, one of our readers visited Cyclone to get an update on how things are going.

This morning he sent me an email with a link to a recent press announcing that Cyclone has added LENR heavyweight, Professor Yeong E. Kim from Purdue University to their technical consulting and advisory team.

Here's the press release (emphasis and photo added):

Cyclone Power Technologies Adds Renowned Nuclear Physicist, Dr. Yeong Kim, to its Technical Advisory Team

POMPANO BEACH, FL, December 3 , 2013. Cyclone Power Technologies Inc . (OTCQB: CYPW), developer of the all-fuel, clean-tech Cyclone Engine, announced today that it has added to its technical consulting and advisory team Dr. Yeong E. Kim, professor and Group Leader of the Nuclear and Many-Body Theory Group at Purdue University

Dr. Kim is a nuclear physicist who has authored or co-authored over 200 scientific journal publications during his career . He received his Ph.D. in 1963 from the University of California, Berkeley, followed by a postdoctoral position at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Dr. Kim is currently Director of Purdue Center for Sensing Science and Technology (CSST), Group Leader of Purdue Nuclear and Many-Body Theory Group, and Professor of Physics at Purdue University. His main area of research has been theoretical nuclear physics, including the practical achievability of low energy nuclear reactions (LENR), or cold fusion. Dr. Kim has published widely on this subject, as well as condensed matter physics, atomic, molecular and optical physics, nuclear astrophysics, and quantum statistical mechanics. Since 1978, he served on advisory committees for numerous government agencies and international conferences covering diverse topics of nuclear physics. He has been a Fellow of the American Physical Society since 1977.

Christopher Nelson, President of Cyclone, stated: “We are truly honored to have someone of Dr. Kim’s incredible credentials and immense understanding of the nuclear sciences join us at Cyclone. We would also like to thank Nick Connor of The Energy Trust LLC of Indiana for his vision and hard work in bringing us together. Like much of the public, we have many questions about low energy nuclear reactions and want to make sure we have the best person on our team help us evaluate its viability. If such low-cost heat producing technology can ultimately be commercialized, we believe it will require integration with a Cyclone Engine – the same compact, high-efficiency external heat engine which can more immediately run on natural gas or virtually any other fuel to cogenerate electricity and heat for a home or business . For such a possibility we owe it to our current and future shareholders to be prepared and well educated.”.

Dr. Kim stated: “I am very pleased to join Cyclone’s team. A growing percentage of the scientific community today is accepting evidence of anomalous heat effects occurring within low energy nuclear reactions. I believe this acceptance will speed-up experimentation in this field, with the goal of better understanding and controlling these reactions. If that is accomplished, I see the Cyclone Engine as being a major component in the next phase of product commercialization.”

Cyclone is currently working with the U.S. Army / TARDEC to develop a similar engine system to serve as an auxiliary power unit (APU) for military vehicles. The Company plans to start manufacturing its 10kW Waste Heat Engine (WHE-DR) in early 2014, which it expects to serve the micro-grid waste-to-power market worldwide. Automotive applications for the powerful, clean burning Cyclone Engine are also being planned.

About Cyclone Power Technologies

Cyclone Power Technologies is the developer of the award-winning Cyclone Engine –- an all-fuel, clean-tech engine with the power and versatility to run everything from waste energy electric generators and solar thermal systems to cars, trucks and locomotives. Invented by company founder and Chairman Harry Schoell, the patented Cyclone Engine is an eco-friendly external combustion engine, ingeniously designed to achieve high thermal efficiencies through a compact heat-regenerative process, and to run on virtually any fuel -- including bio-diesels, syngas or solar -- while emitting fewer greenhouse gases and irritating pollutants into the air. The Cyclone Engine was recognized by Popular Science Magazine as the Invention of the Year for 2008, and was presented with two Society of Automotive Engineers’ AEI Tech Awards. Additionally, Cyclone was named Environmental Business of the Year by the Broward County (Florida) Environmental Protection Department.
