"How to Avoid Regret"

“I wish I had been less prepared.”

That is a quote you have never heard, nor will you ever hear it from anyone. Why? Because it’s insane! No one in their right mind would ever want to not be ready for something important in their life.

Here’s the sad thing: While everyone would agree that being prepared for the future is a good idea, very few people ever actually take the necessary steps to prepare themselves for the worst-case-scenarios that they may face one day.

I remember years ago when I first began to carry concealed. I had been doing a lot of reading on the subject of personal defense, concealed carry, self-reliance, etc., and it hit me like a ton of bricks: I’m not as prepared as I should be. I knew right then and there that if I truly valued my life and lives of my loved ones, I had to get prepared and be ready for anything.

If asked, most people would have a different definition of what it means to be prepared, but that doesn’t mean that any one person is all right or all wrong. There are many different ways to tie a knot, and there are many different approaches to self-preparation. Don’t hear me wrong: There definitely are wrong ways of doing things, but there are also lots of different right ways of doing things.

When I began my journey of self-reliance and preparation, I had to ask myself tough questions. We all live and work in different environments, so the questions you ask yourself are likely to be different than the questions I asked myself. But in the end, the answers to those questions point us all in the same direction: Preparation.

“Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is sure to be failure.” ~ Confucius

Or, as my high school football coach used to yell at me,

"Hey Schmidt, don't forget about the six P's. Proper Preparation Prevents Piss-Poor Performance!"

It is impossible to argue with the wisdom of this quote. If we are to succeed on our mission of protecting and saving lives, then preparation is our most powerful ally. My hope for you is that this report can be an aide to you on the road to self-reliance, responsibility, and preparation.
