Department of Homeland Security Exploit Alert

Your Action is Needed

We rarely send out alerts, and the DHS never suggests disabling common software... so this is something to take seriously.

I also am making a personal appeal for you to share this email with others!

~Cliff Bodenweiser

~~~ This applies to PC and Mac users ~~~
Please read this entire transmission carefully Your direct action is necessary to keep you from becoming a victim.
There is a 99% chance that all of your computers' web browsers have JAVA embedded and active within them. JAVA itself has not inherently been a bad thing to have on your computers... That is, until now - wherein the bad guys are sharing an exploit with others to attack innocent web users like you.
The threat to you: Once this exploit is run it can silently extract info from your daily computing (your keystrokes) and data already on your computer (i.e. Credit Card and bank account info). It is now starting to show up in the wild (aka: the Internet). Don't be one of the victims... take action and protect you and your family and/or your business.
What to do: See below for your options to mitigate this threat. We can help if you need us to assist or handle this completely for you.
Why?: People always ask me this question, so I will answer it here: MONEY. You see, the really bad guys are including this exploit in the "malware kits" that they SELL to hackers. Those hackers implant this code into legitimate websites, which, when stumbled upon by you, runs code that allows them access to your computer. Then they can use it as they see fit, including stealing your personal data and possibly your MONEY.
Time is of the essence... and the danger is real.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

HERE are the ways you can address this:

1)  Do nothing - Certainly NOT Recommended!

In this case you are left vulnerable to whatever the bad guys want to do with your computer and personal information!

2)  You can make these changes on ALL your

computers:

a)  go into Control Panel - (Add/Remove) Programs - and uninstall any programs that have "Java" or "JRE" showing up in the name.

OR

b) attempt to disable JAVA from running on your browsers: Here are ways to attempt to disable Java.

Please note: it is NOT simple or easy to disable JAVA in Internet Explorer browsers unless you are at the latest version of JAVA (V7u10)!

3)  We can make the changes for you - as long as

your computers are ALL on and we have access to them via LogMeIn.

Instructions: We need you to

a) respond to this e-mail with 2 time-slots* and
b) make sure that the computers are actually online and awake at those times.

Please make sure we have access through LogMeIn. There will be a 12-18 minute charge to do this as long as there are no complications with getting connected and making the changes.

*We are going to be busy, so we need 2 large time slots (please allow us 10+ hours - even into the early AM) when we can jump in and make these changes. We will leave a note on the screen when done.
