Don't judge a flower by its scent

I wouldn't say I'm over the hill yet -- but I've definitely made the difficult transition from "floor model" to "antique." And as I've added a small army of candles to my birthday cake, I've learned to take time to relax and smell the flowers.

But I can promise you this -- if that flower is a butterbur, I plug my nose and keep walking. That's because this swamp weed may be one of the foulest-scented creations to ever sink roots into the earth. It packs a putrid punch that falls somewhere between a sweaty tube sock and a toilet on a tuna boat.

But before you turn your nose up at butterbur for good, let me remind you of some sage advice mom doled out a million times -- don't judge a book by its cover. Or, just as importantly, don't judge a flower by its scent. Because according to exciting new research from the Cleveland Clinic, this funky flower may have the power to bring you mind-blowing migraine relief in mere weeks!

According to the research, just published in Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment, butterbur may have the power to relieve migraine pain and even stop new migraines from developing! In one study, 60 migraine patients received either butterbur extract or placebo for 12 weeks, and the folks in the butterbur group saw their migraine frequency diminish by an unbelievable 60%!

And, believe me, this was no fluke. In a second study, volunteers who took 75 mg. of butterbur twice a day cut their painful and sickening migraine attacks in half!

Butterbur isn't some Johnny-come-lately on the alternative health scene either. It's used in modern medicine to treat stubborn allergies, and Native Americans swore by its ability to bring fast relief for splitting headaches.

What our Native American ancestors didn't know -- but what we know now -- is that butterbur is loaded with petasin and isopetasin, which have been proven to soothe even the most painful, throbbing headaches.

Frequent migraines can leave you feeling like a cymbal-slapping marching band is playing Taps between your temples. And for many folks, even the most powerful and dangerous prescription drugs fail to bring relief.

If this sounds like you, swing by your local health food store and give butterbur a try. A bouquet of butterbur may stink to high heaven, but when it comes to relieving migraines, a butterbur supplement just may be a godsend.

Yours in good health,
