Have you ever seen a fat sprinter? How about a slow boxer? A
skier with poor balance? A scholar who can't read? A doctor
without specialized knowledge?
The answer to all of these questions is obvious: NO. And the
metaphor they provide to you and me as responsibly armed,
self-reliant citizens is quite important. The fact is that you
and I can't truly be responsibly armed, fully prepared citizens
without investing in the same kinds of preparations that
athletes invest in their disciplines.
The fact is simple: we must always be looking for opportunities
to train, prepare, and educate ourselves if we are truly going
to have an advantage over someone who is intent on doing us or
our loved ones harm.
It's likely that the first thing that comes to mind when people
think of training is going to the local shooting range. However,
not everyone has sufficient free time and/or an endless training
budget for things like costly and hard-to-find ammo. This can be
a problem that causes many folks to simply throw in the towel
and not train at all. While I understand the frustration, this
is a big mistake.
If you are limited by your resources or schedule, I have good
news for you: There are countless ways to mentally and
physically train yourself to be prepared for any type of
confrontation. Whether it's dry fire training or studying books,
reading our free resources online, or checking out books on
personal defense tactics and training from your local library,
there is no shortage of creative ways to approach your training
in a way that will fit into your lifestyle, budget, and time
constraints.
Remember, you can't be prepared without actually preparing
yourself. And you can trust me when I say, you will never regret
being overly prepared!
