Florida legislature passes natural gas vehicle incentive bill

The Florida House of Representatives on Thursday passed by a vote of 116-2 a tax incentive package designed to encourage companies to buy natural gas vehicles, according to Ed Criss, chairman of the Florida Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition.

The same bill, House Bill 579, was passed by the state Senate on Tuesday by a vote of 39-0, he said in a statement. The bill has been sent to Governor Rick Scott, a Republican, for his signature.

he legislation mandated no taxes on natural gas fuels for five years and created a $6 million/year rebate program for companies that want to buy and expand their NGV fleets, Criss said.
