The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission gave its approval for Bruce Power to bring Unit 1 to full power at the Bruce A Nuclear Generating Station in Ontario.

The approval was the final milestone of the refurbishment project at the plant. Unit 2 began sending electricity to the grid in October for the first time in 17 years. Unit 1 began generating electricity for the first time in 15 years in September 2012. The Bruce A and B plants use four CANDU reactors. When fully completed, Bruce Power will generate nearly 6,000 MW of electricity. TransCanada owns 49 percent of Bruce A and 32 percent of Bruce B.
