Ontario's Rising Electricity Rates Choke Small Businesses

Nov 04 - Business Wire

As of November 1, 2013 the price of electricity will be going up as residents will pay $4 more per month on their electric bills. This increase will also impact small business in Ontario with that cost per business operation increasing by more than five times that! Energy costs for small business have increased year over year and in the most recent announcement of another energy increase, this will no doubt hurt the bottom line again of businesses across Ontario.

With the economy stagnant, businesses need to think outside the box on how to reduce operating costs while maintaining profit margins. ProQuip International's Director of Business Development, Tony Tavernese states, "Business owners are unaware that a solution is available. In the past few years we have been working with businesses all across Ontario, helping them reduce energy costs through our innovative lighting solutions." The benefits of LED lighting are astounding, small businesses can save up to 90% on their lighting energy cost while improving lighting performance. On average most retrofits receive a 7 to 10 month return on investment.

In addition to the cost savings for small businesses, ProQuip International has assisted in saving 273 tons of CO2 over the past year, which equates to 174 total mid-sized sedans removed from Ontario highways and has helped preserve up to 19,000 trees. In addition, small businesses in Ontario are expected to save more than $138,000. These savings go to much needed bottom line profits of small businesses throughout Ontario.
