Support Rooftop Solar in Arizona

Arizona Public Service (APS) Company's history of generating electricity from dirty fossil fuels dates nearly all the way back to the gunfight at the O.K. Corral. Now, Arizona's largest utility is taking aim at the state's clean energy future by targeting a key incentive for solar power.

Urge the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) to save rooftop solar.

When homeowners and small business owners install solar panels, any excess electricity they do not use can be sent back to the electricity grid for others to use through a policy known as "net metering." The solar owners get credit on their electricity bills for sharing their extra renewable energy—the metaphor is that their electric meter "spins backwards."

Now APS—along with climate contrarian groups backed by the fossil fuel magnate Koch brothers—is urging the ACC to dramatically reduce the credit customers receive on their electricity bills for rooftop solar energy. The ACC's own staff has advised against the proposal, and the commission could vote on the issue within just a couple weeks.

We want more rooftop solar in Arizona, and continuing the net metering program is a key way to help make sure that happens.

Please take action now to urge the ACC to save rooftop solar.

Sincerely,
Jason Barbose
