42 Killed, 74 Wounded As Battles Approach Baghdad

At least 42 people were killed and 74 more were wounded. An unidentified police colonel warned that the tense situation in Anbar could soon be on Baghdad’s doorstep.

Anbar:

An unidentified police colonel warned that militants are increasing their attacks on towns between Falluja and Baghdad, particularly Abu Ghraib. A video of a militant parade in Abu Ghraib, which lies on the outskirts of Baghdad, has surfaced online. Soldiers killed a suicide bomber.

A roadside bomb near Ramadi killed a Sahwa leader and three others. Clashes took place.

Gunmen killed a Sahwa member and wounded three more during clashes in Khalidiya.

In Albu Bali, a bomb killed one soldier and wounded two more.

One militant was killed and six more were wounded in an operation near the Syrian border.

Artillery fire struck the hospital in Falluja, but no casualties were reported. Shelling wounded five civilians.

Elsewhere:

In Rashad, four gunmen were killed and two more were wounded as they were trying to plant a bomb. As the injured fled, they killed three farmers. A roadside bomb targeting a colonel’s convoy wounded three bodyguards.

Gunmen killed six people in Latifiya after kidnapping them from several homes.

Four people were killed and 11 more were wounded in a bombing in Husseiniya.

In Tikrit, a suicide bomber attacked a police H.Q. where he killed five and wounded 11 others.

A bomb in a commercial area of Madaen killed two people and wounded five more. A sticky bomb killed a civilian.

One person was killed and three more were wounded on a minibus in Khalis, when a bomb exploded.

In Mosul, a policeman and a soldier were killed in separate incidents. Gunmen killed two policemen. Gunmen wounded two soldiers.

Gunmen killed a civilian in Taji.

In Yusufiya, a civilian was gunned down.

A bomb in Balad left seven soldiers with injuries.

Six soldiers were wounded in a roadside blast near Baiji.

Gunmen wounded a policeman in Baquba.

Two soldiers were wounded during clashes in Qayara.

Security forces killed a militant leader and wounded his colleague in Imam Weis.

In al-Jadida, two ISIS leaders were killed in a clash with Ansar al-Sunna, a separate militant group.

Two militants were killed during an operation to the northwest of Kirkuk.

Gunmen kidnapped the father of several army soldiers in Shurqat.
