The Energy Efficiency Innovation Collaborative (EE-INC) has received more than 120 responses during the first round of its Request for Information (RFI) on energy efficiency technologies that are commercially available, but not yet widely deployed. EE-INC is a public-private partnership of energy industry leaders spearheaded by the New York Power Authority (NYPA) and part of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo's strategic statewide vision to scale up clean energy, enhance New York State's competitiveness for clean energy businesses, and make energy systems more resilient and reliable.
The responses have included companies that specialize in a variety of energy-saving categories such as energy management and metering, HVAC, lighting, modeling and analytical tools, on-site power generation, and others both nationally and internationally. The biggest interest has come from New York-based entities. NYPA is financing hundreds of millions of dollars every year in energyefficiency projects and is aiming to incorporate emerging energy-saving technologies into the projects at schools, colleges and universities, offices, healthcare facilities, and other public buildings throughout the state. In the next several months, EE-INC will evaluate the responses and, subsequently, integrate the selected technologies into projects being undertaken by NYPA. Members of the collaborative include New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems (SyracuseCoE), the Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS) and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). In the future, NYPA plans to collaborate with Empire State Development to link and leverage EE-INC with Start-Up NY.
