The Spirit-Speaking Person

An Ancient Tradition Arises to Help Our Modern Times

At several points in the history of our planet when society has lost its way, the Divine has manifested a Spirit-Speaking person to help various cultures reestablish the connection and balance we have lost. The Tibetan kuten, the Huichol axihuatakame, the Greco-Roman oracle - over tens of thousands of years, respected cultures the world over have shared the phenomenon of a person being called to serve as a material voice for the Divine.

It is a singular opportunity that Tatewarí (literally, 'Grandfather Fire'), the divine elemental spirit of fire, heart and connection, has chosen a person from our Western culture to undertake the training of a traditional Huichol healer so he can speak to us in our native tongue and bring needed healing to our people and culture. This is not a New Age channeling phenomenon, but an ancient tradition that provides guidance in rebalancing lives and culture in a time of tremendous turmoil, helping us to remember and reawaken powerful life-sustaining connections with the natural world.

You're Invited...

to a rare event on May 31 along the banks of the Colorado River near Moab, UT.

In response to the endangered status of the Colorado River and the arising of many concerned people, we are setting in place the conditions to hear the ancient story of the river as conveyed by Grandfather Fire through an axihuatakame, or 'spirit-speaking person', from the Huichol tradition of the Mexican Sierra Madres.

Our hope is this will provide a doorway, to those who attend, to connect deeply with the ancient life-giving gifts that Fire and Water provide our world.

We honor the Colorado River Basin watershed by giving it what it needs: Thanks.

The Colorado River Basin watershed is home to myriad flora and fauna of the Rocky Mountains and the high and low deserts of the Southwest, to some First People's place of emergence and to over 36 million beneficiaries from cities, towns, farmland and agriculture in six states. This 6 billion year old Being, the Colorado River, could run dry in our lifetime. She hasn't run naturally to Her Mother, Grandmother Ocean, since the '30s. She is the most endangered river in the United States.

Find out how this movement is different. Find out how gratitude makes a change.

Water Comes First introduces the modern world to an ancient way of being in relationship to water. We invite all people to participate.
