Americans of both parties prefer immigration policies that protect American workers, oppose Executive Amnesty

Opposition to President Obama's threat of an Executive Amnesty for possibly millions of illegal aliens continued to heat up this week as many of you faxed, phoned, and visited district offices of your Members of Congress. Your efforts were further validated by a barrage of media stories reporting on a new blockbuster poll released by National pollster and GOP advisor Kellyanne Conway confirming that a majority of Americans of both political parties agree with you. In fact, Americans are unequivocal in their support for immigration policies that protect the American worker. This new poll constitutes a stunning rebuke of President Obama's plan to unilaterally amnesty illegal workers and expand immigration at a time when 18 million Americans can't find full-time jobs.

Their (voters) sentiment is the inverse of the oft-repeated phrase, 'illegal immigrants do the jobs that Americans don't want to do,' saying instead that these workers should have a fair opportunity to do the jobs that illegal immigrants currently do

-- Kellyanne Conway

Yahoo, The Washington Times, Politico, and a host of other media outlets reported on the findings of the poll. Talk radio host Laura Ingraham said the poll "should stand as a beacon for Republicans seeking office in November." In fact, the findings of the poll should serve as a guide to Republicans AND Democrats seeking office. Many would surely be stunned to learn:

74% of voters want the President to work with Congress while only 21% support his acting alone. This includes:

  • 56% of Democrats
  • 81% of Independents
  • 93% of Republicans

77% believe U.S. born workers and legal immigrants already in the country should be given preference for jobs over new legal immigrants (89% agree over illegal immigrants).

Many of you are already letting your Members of Congress know about this breakthrough poll as you visit the district offices of your elected officials. Scheduling a local office visit to your Senator(s) and U.S. Representative is one of the most effective things you can do to keep up opposition to President Obama's proposed amnesty. Melanie Oubre has posted a host of information on your action board to make it as easy as possible for you to do this. CLICK HERE TO FIND A SENATE OFFICE IN YOUR TOWN. While Americans are more focused and more opinionated on the issue of immigration than they have been in years (immigration now ranks in the top 3 of voters' concerns), President Obama continues to pursue his renegade approach to immigration, inviting corporate stakeholders and special interests to the White House to help plan one or more unilateral executive actions on immigration.

Your actions this week (and throughout this past year) are giving voice to the majority of Americans of both political parties who revealed in this week's poll that they oppose the White House and Senate Majority who appear more concerned about the demands of Big Business and special interests than the unemployment situation of their fellow Americans and constituents. Thank you for giving voice to those who need it most.
