Attacks Across Iraq Leave 45 Dead, 78 Wounded

At least 45 people were killed and 78 more were wounded in today attacks. Few casualties were reported in Anbar province, but this is likely due to the difficulties in counting them in a battle zone. Other attacks occurred throughout the country.

Eight militants were killed and four more were wounded in separate battles in al-Hoz, north of Ramadi; five human shields were wounded during the fighting.p

A rocket hit a Ramadi building housing reporters; several of them were wounded. Also, three militants were killed and seven more were wounded.

A militant leader was killed in Garma.

A number of militants were killed in Dijla Thira’.

The number of casualties in Falluja was not reported.

In Jurf al-Sakhar, mortars wounded nine civilians, among them children. Eight gunmen were killed.

A bomb killed four people and wounded 14 more in Tuz Khormato. A trash can bomb killed one person and wounded three others.

A bomb in Abu Ghraib left three soldiers dead and two more wounded. A bomb killed two militants and wounded a third one.p

Soldiers in Mosul killed two gunmen and wounded two more. A sticky bomb left two policemen and a civilian wounded. A body bearing gunshot and torture marks was found. An I.E.D. injured a colonel.pA policeman was shot dead.

A bomb in Samarra killed two people and wounded six more.

In Baghdad, a bomb killed one person and wounded seven others.

A bomb in Baiji killed one soldier and wounded four more.

A suicide bomber wounded three soldiers at an army base in Riyadh.

In Tal Kef, an imam died of wounds associated with an attack weeks ago.

A sniper killed a soldier in Balad.

A car bomb wounded seven people in Shirqat.

A gunman was killed when he attacked a checkpoint in Adhaim.

In Dujail, three gunmen were killed.
