New York (Platts)--20Nov2014/338 pm EST/2038 GMT

Total US petroleum deliveries, a measure of demand, fell 0.2% in October year on year to average 19.3 million b/d, the American Petroleum Institute said Thursday.

"While total demand saw a small drop-off from last year, transportation fuels like gasoline and jet fuel hit recent highs for the month," API Chief Economist John Felmy said in a statement.

Gasoline demand in October rose 0.3% year on year to average just below 9 million b/d, the highest level for the month since 2010, the API said in its monthly statistical report. Jet fuel demand rose 1.5% to almost 1.5 million b/d, the highest October level in seven years.

However, overall distillate demand in October was 3.8 million b/d, below the 4 million b/d mark for the seventh consecutive month and 6.2% below October 2013.
