The US oil rig count fell by 10 to 545 in the week ending Friday,
also down 1,030 from 1,575 in the comparable week a year ago, Baker
Hughes said in its weekly report.
Gas rigs rose three to 192, which was down 152 from 344 a year ago.
The total US oil and gas rig count for the week was down seven to
737.
Horizontal rigs in the US totaled 569, flat with a week ago.
Directional rigs totaled 64, down two from a week ago, and the
vertical rig count fell by five to 104.
There were 25 US offshore rigs this week, down five from a week ago
and 31 from 56 a year ago.
Canada's rig count decreased by seven to 177, which was down 245
from 422 the same week a year ago. Canada's oil rigs fell four to
77, while gas rigs dropped by three to 100.
