Fronius has added its first string inverter to its product range for the PV project market. The Fronius Eco is being introduced in 25 and 27 kVA power classes, and it will be unveiled at the Intersolar in Munich.

Fronius is targeting large PV projects with capacities in the megawatt range. The manufacturer states that the device has an efficiency rating of 98.3% and also emphasises its compact design and relatively low weight of 35.7 kg for this power class. The inverters fulfil the requirements of protection class IP 66, which means they are dust-tight and protected against strong jets of water. Up to six module strings can be connected directly and securely to the inverter, making additional DC or collection boxes unnecessary. Fronius also offers optional overvoltage protection on the DC side.

The string inverters are equipped with the Dynamic Peak Manager and its novel MPP tracking algorithm, and the SnapINverter Technologie2 developed by Fronius helps to reduce service costs. According to Martin Hackl, head of the solar division, the Fronius Eco is the ideal inverter for projects: "It is easy to service, extremely economical and fulfils the high quality standards of Fronius."
