US oil, gas rig count falls by seven to 868 for week ending Friday: Baker Hughes

The US oil and natural gas rotary rig count slid another seven rigs to 868 in the week that ended Friday, which also was down 992 from 1,860 in the comparable week a year ago, Baker Hughes said in its weekly report.

US gas rigs for the week totaled 222, down three from a week ago. The US oil rig count fell by four to 642.

Horizontal rigs in the US totaled 673, down one from a week ago. Directional rigs totaled 96, up six from the week before, while vertical rigs fell 12 to 99.

The miscellaneous rig count was at four, unchanged from the previous week and flat to a year ago, according to Baker Hughes data.

Canada's count was up by 18 at 116, which was down 98 from 214 the same week a year ago.

Canada's oil rigs rose by 15 to 59, from last week, while gas rigs rose by three to 57. There were no miscellaneous rigs in Canada, unchanged from the prior week and prior year.
