Amish Girl Threatened with Medical Kidnapping Returns Cancer Free After 2 Years
A couple of years ago, a ten year old Ohio Amish girl was being treated for non-Hodgkin lymphoma at Akron Children’s Hospital. After the first round, she was extremely ill and begged her parents to stop the “treatment”.
The parents prayed for guidance then decided they should withdraw their daughter from that hospital and receive a second opinion for treatment. That request alone has led to medical kidnapping of minors throughout the nation, probably because second opinion is code in their minds for alternative natural cancer treatments.
But the hospital’s determination to have 10 year old Sarah Hershberger remain in that hospital receiving their treatment had another motivation. Another source reported that the Akron Children’s Hospital was receiving one million dollars for an experimental chemotherapy drug, and Sarah was one of their guinea pigs. The Hershbergers were never told that initially.
This time the child protective service was not involved since their own officials had determined the Hershbergers were model parents. So the hospital had to warp the law by assigning a guardian of their choice to take Sarah and make sure she went through a series of chemo treatments spanning two years.
The judge in the initial legal proceedings ruled that the hospital had no right to assign a registered nurse as her guardian who would sign off on their experimental chemo drug treatment. The Hershbergers w that was not even disclosed to the local area media. It’s uncertain whether even the courts knew of the hospital’s motivation.
But that ruling was overturned by an appeals court, and the local media and others reported with their twisted tragedy of narrow minded parents refusing medical treatment.
Hershbergers Head South of the Border for a Cure
So the Hershbergers decided it was time to flee the country. They knew that staying in the States would only lead to having Sarah and whatever family member had her extradited and returned to Ohio. This has happened to others who fled certain states to escape enforced chemotherapy.
Besides, Amish community members had knowledge of a clinic with a high success rate in Mexico that could treat her naturally, without chemo. So Sarah and her uncle traveled by bus to somewhere in Mexico.
In a few short weeks Sarah was cancer free. This despite the threats from doctors at Akron Children’s Hospital that Sarah would be dead in a few weeks if she didn’t undergo chemo.
This Amish community’s bishop, Isaac Keim, may have been their source of inspiration and information. He had cancer and was told he would be dead in a few months if he didn’t undergo chemotherapy. He refused, and after using more natural means he’s doing fine. He pointed out there are several Amish who have refused chemo and gone on to live healthy lives.
In case you’re wondering how all these folks living such simple and down to earth lives are getting cancer, a non-Amish woman from the Akron area explains: “That hospital killed my younger brother. He had leukemia. Lots of people come down with leukemia there.”
She went on to mention that there is a mercury pollution problem there, but that was almost two years ago, and I don’t remember how that pollution permeates and from what industry or even if she mentioned it.
The Hershbergers have not revealed the Mexican clinic and its location as of this writing, perhaps because it was unsafe to openly return home until there was no threat of medical kidnapping for Sarah or contempt of court leading to arrest.
But prior to their fleeing to Mexico, the Hershbergers consulted a local area naturopath who offered to work with the hospital in an integrative holistic manner, but the hospital refused.
Well of course would refuse. Hidden from all the principles involved in this matter, this was to be a human trial. And those trials can’t mix natural remedies into the process.
After Two Years the Threat of Legal Actions is Over
Not only that, but thanks to the family’s decision to use a clinic in Mexico, 12 year old Sarah is healthy and cancer free and has been for two years now. The legal issues were covered by an actual charitable group that provides free legal counsel to deserving cases of state civil liberty abuses, the 1851 Constitutional Law Center.
“We made it clear to our opponents that they were in for a protracted battle over fundamental principles and constitutional rights; and that on each, they were on the wrong side,” said Maurice Thompson, Executive Director of the 1851 Constitutional Law Center.
Thanks to the huge public outcry from alternative media site readers and the legal efforts of the 1851 Center, the state appointed legal guardian in charge of ensuring Sarah got her two years of chemotherapy, RN Maria Schimer, was forced to resign her guardianship. Her resignation was recently upheld and confirmed by the court system, which gave the Hershbergers an open door to return.
Besides being a registered nurse, Maria is general counsel for the Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). Seems to me she was used to help make sure the hospital and medical university would get paid that one million dollars or more for their human trial on Sarah more than protect her health.
