The relationship of electromagnetic radiation from gadgets such as mobile phones to lowered male fertility has been well-documented as the use such devices increased exponentially in the past several years. On average, a person is in close proximity with at least two wireless devices each day. Resultantly, an estimated 70 million couples worldwide struggle with male infertility.

According to a fertility study in Argentina, four hours of exposure to a Wi-Fi enabled laptop killed 25 percent of the sperm in their sample. Another study in France revealed a one-third drop in sperm count between 1989 and 2005, which can be attributed to long exposure to electromagnetic waves.

Seeing how damaging prolonged exposure to electromagnetic radiation can be, London-based scientist Joseph Perkins designed a men's underwear that deflects the harmful rays. Known as Wireless Armour, the undergarment uses RadiaTex® fabric, which has pure a mesh of pure silver woven into it. This serves as a protective layer that blocks electromagnetic radiation.

The company had their fabric tested, and results showed that it deflects 99.99% of radiation emitted within a frequency range between 100MHz and 2.6GHz. This includes radiation emitted when taking voice calls using mobile phones.

The silver-embedded textile also boasts anti-bacterial property, prevents odor buildup and is machine-washable. The shielding will only start to decline after the 300th wash or six years of use.
