The chicks who managed to survive the later stages of the factory products, were given vaccines and growth hormones so they can reach the size of the sales market or to be able to farm eggs. All this things usually happen in factory farms where the roosters are separated from the future chickens and killed since they cannot lay eggs, and therefore are not cost-effective.
They kill them in different ways, they throw them in grinder, break their neck or kill them with gas. According to British Beis (British department for poultry) chickens are euthanized, as they call it, and they admitted that this was happening in the factories in the past as well.
