The US oil rig count fell by eight to 392 in the week ending
Friday, down from 922 in the comparable week a year ago, Baker
Hughes said in its weekly report.
Gas rigs dropped by five to 97 week on week, down from 268 rigs
working a year ago. The total US oil and gas rig count fell by 13
rigs from the week prior to 489.
Horizontal rigs in the US fell by eight week on week to 389, down
from 895 a year ago. The vertical rig count stayed flat this week at
58, down from 177 a year ago, while directional rigs totaled 42,
down five from a week ago and from 78 a year ago.
There were 24 US offshore rigs this week, down three from last week
and down from 51 a year ago.
Canada's rig count fell 46 to 129, which is down from 300 the same
week a year ago. Canada's oil rigs dropped by 33 to 50, while gas
rigs fell by 13 to 79.
