• Top U.S. military officials say future conflict would be “extremely lethal and fast”

• Increasing technological advancement of China, Russia could lead to war

• U.S. conducting hypersonic missile research, which could antagonise China, Russia

WASHINGTON, U.S. - Amidst reports that Russia has started preparing its citizens for a ‘nuclear war’ with the West, the U.S. army has now declared that World War III is "almost guaranteed" - meanwhile Kim Jong Un sits on his throne in North Korea, anticipating the violence.

According to reports from Moscow, a Russian defence ministry TV channel, Zvezda has been featuring a piece that said “Schizophrenics from America are sharpening nuclear weapons for Moscow.”

Russian media further reassured that underground shelters had been built which could provide shelter for Moscow’s 12 million people in the event of an attack.

Russia, meanwhile, warned that the United States would face "terrible, tectonic" consequences if it took military action against the Syrian regime.

Russia has the largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world with 8,400 warheads compared to 7,500 in America.

Meanwhile, the U.S. army has said World War III is "almost guaranteed" in the not going to happen in some distant future, as the war of words between the most powerful countries escalates.

Top American military officials also warned that any future conflict would be “extremely lethal and fast.”

At an annual meeting of the Association of the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Mark A. Milley, sounded an ominous warning - war between nations is almost guaranteed sometime in the future.

In remarks which seemed to be directed at Russia, the general said the United States was ready to beat “any enemy, anywhere, any time.”

Another senior army official, Major General William Hix, echoed similar views and said, “A conventional conflict in the near future will be extremely lethal and fast, and we will not own the stopwatch."

"The speed of events is likely to strain our human abilities," he noted.

Stressing on the role of technology in the event of a war, he added, "The speed at which machines can make decisions in the far future is likely to challenge our ability to cope, demanding a new relationship between man and machine."

Hix admitted he is forcing military chiefs to prepare for “violence on the scale that the U.S. Army has not seen since Korea.”

Hix also alluded to the technological advancements China and Russia were undertaking in recent years.

Threat from Russia, the growing military strength of China and climate change could be factors leading the United States into World War III, the top U.S. military leader felt.

The United States, meanwhile, is conducting hypersonic missile research, which would risk antagonising China and Russia, experts fear.

At the same event, Lt. Gen. Joseph Anderson, U.S. army's deputy chief of staff for operations, plans and training, said the United States faces threats from 'modern nation-states acting aggressively in militarised competition.'

'Who does that sound like? Russia?' he said.

Tensions have reached an unprecedented high globally and experts fear that the devastating civil war in Syria could be a flashpoint that triggers the eventual catastrophe.
