The National Energy Administration of China announced the country more than doubled its solar capacity, making it the globe’s biggest producer of solar energy.

The country added 34.54 GW of solar power over the last year and now operates 77.42 GW of solar facilities, Reuters reported.

China shows no signs of slowing down, as the country plans to add 110 GW of capacity over the next five years, according to the NEA’s solar power development plan. The country hopes to increase renewable energy production to 20 percent of its total energy mix. Currently 11 percent of China’s power comes from renewables.

The provinces of Shandong, Xinjiang and Henan experienced the greatest capacity increase. Now Xinjiang, Gansu, Qinghai and Inner Mongolia have the greatest overall capacity in the country.
