The Democratic National Committee’s “gross negligence” is the reason they were prone to hacking, according to President-elect Donald Trump.

“Gross negligence by the Democratic National Committee allowed hacking to take place,” he wrote on Twitter late Friday. “The Republican National Committee had strong defense!”

He then took to Twitter early Saturday to double down, saying that there is “no evidence” that the hacking actually manipulated and changed the results of the election.

The president-elect added that the only reason Democrats are trying to make the national media narrative all about Russia and the country’s attempt to undermine our presidential election is because they’re “embarrassed” by Hillary Clinton’s loss.

President Barack Obama and his administration have officially blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin for cyber attacks meant to “undermine” the American democratic process, while hurting Clinton and aiding Trump in last year’s race to the White House.

“We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election,” said the report from the U.S. intelligence community that Trump was briefed on.

Still, Trump has continued to allege that the hacking did not influence the outcome of the election.

“While Russia, China, other countries, outside groups and people are consistently trying to break through the cyber infrastructure of our governmental institutions, businesses and organizations including the Democrat National Committee, there was absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election including the fact that there was no tampering whatsoever with voting machines,” he said in a statement following the briefing.

In that statement, Trump also praised the defenses of the Republican National Committee after it was revealed that hackers also attempted to breach their cyber networks but were unable to successfully penetrate them.
