Ivanka Trump on Monday said she was "blindsided" by "a level of viciousness" in Washington since her father assumed the presidency.

The daughter and close adviser of President Donald Trump told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" though she wasn't expecting it to be easy, she was taken aback by the "ferocity" her father and the entire Trump family have experienced.

"It is hard. There's a level of viciousness I was not expecting; I was not expecting the intensity of this experience," Ivanka told the Fox panel.

"But this isn't supposed to be easy. My father and this administration intends to be transformative, and want to do big, bold things. We're looking to change the status quo.

"So I didn't expect it to be easy; I think some of the distractions and some of the ferocity I was a little blindsided by on a personal level. But I'm trying to keep my head down, not listen to the noise and just work really hard to make a positive impact in the lives of many people," Ivanka said.
