The option of tapping into what may be considered less-than-desirable water resources continues to be explored as the increasing demand for water supply increases and available unpolluted water resources are depleted.

An ever-increasing number of water and wastewater treatment facility managers have decided to incorporate membrane-related filtration technology as part of their treatment systems. As evidence, the value of the membrane market in the U.S. was around $2 billion last year. Average annual growth has been estimated just above 8% in the U.S., which would put the value of the market in the neighborhood of $3 billion by 2008.
